Do you feel that it is important for the children in our community to have a Children's Museum as a place to grow and learn in a safe and friendly atmosphere?

Are there companies and people out there that understand the benefit of supporting such a place???

Does the society we live in still have the need or want for this type of place?  Or should we be just providing our kids toys, tv's and video games???

Concerned.........

I think a good, well done Children's Museum in Manchester would be a great addition to the city.  It could be a place to grow and learn and would be visited by school children and families from all around New England.

What a great idea.  Are you working on something like this? or just thinking outloud?

Hi,

Thanks for replying!  Well, all of the above really.  I am on the board of directors at the Children's Metamorphosis Museum, aka The Met, in Derry.  I love that you said it would be visited by families from all around New England.....even though it is not in Manchester, it's just outside in a very easily found location.  Some people I have talked to feel that we need to only focus on Derry since it was originated in that area........but I feel differently.

The Museum has been through so much.  We are constantly struggling and I'm having a hard time figuring out why.  Last year, we almost closed and the members "cried"...a big Save the Met campaign was launched and we raised over $50,000 in a month and a half....that is when I joined the board.  Not that I should be discussing intimate details, but I'm so new to this but very passionate.  The potential there is amazing, the love the families and visitors have is very real.  The children just feel like they are in a world of their own and the staff, although small, are the best.  Especially Miss Gail and Miss Chris, two wonderful ladies that the children adore.

I guess I'm reaching out because I am having a hard time believing that the economy is our biggest struggle.....although all of our hardships are based on it.

We need help.........Corporate sponsors, Board members with experience and drive, Volunteers, Donations, Members, etc.......I feel like we keep hitting a wall and it may be caused by exhaustion at times.  I also feel we need to find those people that really believe in the power of a child and the places that really encourage the growth and well-being.  I know they are out there..........

Maybe I'm really just networking, looking for help but also learning what the people really want.

Thanks so much!!!
